Barbara Grimes has been designing for many years, specializing in elaborate bead work on suede, leather, and shear-ling garments for both women and men. Most of her beaders have been practicing their art all their lives, and Barbara teaches them her personal style.
Her extensive collection includes a wide variety of hand laced beaded jackets, tops, skirts, pants, ponchos, shear ling coats, blanket jackets, Handbags and cocktail dresses, all made of luxury suede's and leathers imported mainly from Italy and Spain.
Her palette is a blend of the finest leathers and suede’s from Italy and Spain, imported specialty furs and shear ling skins, rich satin embroideries, shimmering bead work and hand-painted designs inspired by traditions of ornament around the globe.
Barbara Grimes puts it all together in her own unique way that makes each article of clothing a rich, multi-layered artwork in its own right.

Designer Barbara Grimes personally trains her artisans in highly advanced methods of bead work. Her design studio is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, one of the most historic and beautiful places in America. She acquires her materials all over the world, and has a stunning collection of the best semi-precious, glass, antique, brass, and silver beads and fetishes.
These ornaments adorn the best-fit jeans, suede’s, leathers and an assortment of accessories that include beaded handbags, belts, and gloves. Over 25 techniques can be incorporated into one garment, and can take from 30 to 100 hours to complete. The effect is remarkably three-dimensional.
